A STUDY ON THE USE OF ONLINE ENGLISH NEWSPAPERS TO IMPROVE READING SKILL AT HUNG YEN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION

Abstract

The research is carried out to investigate the attitudes of the third year English majors towards online English newspapers, the benefits of online English newspapers to reading skill and some techniques to apply this kind of discourse in learning reading comprehension. In the study, the participants were 40 third- year English majors at the Faculty of Foreign languages at Hung Yen University of Technology and Education. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used to collect and analyse the data. The result of this study has shown that online English newspapers help students improve their reading skills but still limited. The major problem included the limitation of vocabulary, the inappropriate ways to select the right materials and not knowing how to exploit the online sources... This study also offers solutions to those problems.
