ADAPTING ENGLISH TEACHING MATERIALS AT HUNG YEN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION

Abstract

Textbooks are of great significance for teaching and learning. Many textbooks are adapted to suit to teachers’ and students’ needs and requirements. This current research is carried out to explore teachers’ perspectives towards adapting English textbooks. A mixed method research which employed qualitative and quantitative methods was employed in the study. 30 English teachers were chosen from 3 faculties of the university to participate in the study. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected from interview and questionaire respectively. The result revealed that most of the teachers gave their agreement on statements of textbook, textbook adaptation, reasons for adapting textbook and time to adapt text book.
