Abstract

V-bed manual knitting machines are used widely in Vietnam for manufacturing winter fashion items. The study aimed to establish the equations describing the relationship between stitch cam depth and some structural parameters of single knitted fabric including loop length, wale spacing and course spacing in maximum stretching state. Single knitted fabric from double assembly of acrylic yarn Nm 26/2 was producing on Singer V-bed machine with the machine gauge of E7. The stitch cam depth was changed in seven levels of 6,8; 7,3; 7,7; 7,9; 8,5; 9,1 and 9,6 mm. The results showed that when stitch cam depth increased within scope of investigation, the loop length increased linearly according to equation of Y = 0,364 + 1,504X (R2 = 0,998), the wale spacing at maximum stretching state increased linearly according to equation of Y = 1,26X – 1,061 (R2 = 0,990). The course spacing at maximum stretching state varied after the fabric finishing stage, so it was not recommended for controlling the fabric density and dimension in the manufacturing.
