Abstract

Cymbopogonessential oils and constituentspresent importantand potential bioactivities of great pharmaceutical and medicinal signifcance. According to studies, essential oil compositions includecitral, geraniol, citronellol, citronellal and piperitoneknown to possess impressive antibacterial, antifungal, antiyeast, insecticidal and insect repellent activities for a long time. However, the biological and pharmacological signifcance of these essential oils has been rapidly expanded in the past ten years; antiinfammatory, anticancer, allelopathic, free radical scavanging and other useful biological activities have now been demonstrated
