Abstract

The construction of offshore wind farms is the next step for wind power use in coastal countries around the world. The connection between offshore wind farms and onshore grids with a distance of more than 50 km over capacity of offshore 100 MW installed, the HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology has more benefits than the Transmission technology by AC current HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current). This paper presents the connection of offshore systems to onshore grids via HVDC transmission technology. Specific studies are carried out in both the steady-state mode and the transient mode of power system.
