Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of Gimkit.com in enhancing vocabulary acquisition and motivation among second-year non-English major students at Hung Yen University of Technology and Education. The research has four objectives: (1) to examine students' attitudes toward using Gimkit.com for vocabulary learning; (2) to identify challenges faced while using the platform; (3) to investigate the causes of these challenges; and (4) to provide recommendations for improving the tool’s effectiveness. A non-equivalent control group design with 102 students was used, and data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments, observation checklists, and surveys. Results showed significant vocabulary improvement in the experimental group, with increased motivation and engagement. However, technical issues, including poor internet connectivity, were identified as barriers to the platform's effectiveness.
