RESEARCH OF THE INFLUENCE OF FABRIC STRUCTURE PARAMETERS ON COVER FACTOR OF KHAKI FABRICS

Abstract

Cover factor or relative density of fabric is the ratio showing the relationship between the amount of material occupied and the space of the fabric, cover factor influences on the many properties of woven fabrics. This study presents the influence of fabric structure parameters on cover factor of some khaki fabrics produced in Vietnam. The research results show that material composition, yarn structure, yarn diameter, and yarn density related to the area cover factor of fabric. In particular, the volumetric cover factor and the mass cover factor of fabric increase when the weight of g/m2 of fabric increases; the volumetric cover factor of fabric increases when the percentage of cotton content in fabric increases; the mass cover factor of fabric increases when the percentage of polyester or spandex content in fabric increases. This will provide a scientific basis for fabric manufacturers to design textile technology parameters to meet the comfort requirements of khaki fabric according to the intended use of consumers.
