Abstract

In addition to the mechanical properties, the size, shape, microstructure as well as the chemical composition of the weld are factors that directly or indirectly affect the load carrying capacity of the weld joint. Unreasonable weld size causes stress concentration, reduction of load-bearing cross-section and defects in weld joints, inconsistency in microstructure as well as weld metal chemical composition as factors causing drastically reduce the mechanical properties of the weld. Therefore, by experimental results, this study will present the influence of the percentage of additional metal, welding technology parameters on the size, microstructure and chemical composition of the weld. Thereby serving as a basis for the appropriate selection of parameters in the design of the process of welding connections by SAW welding technology with additional metal powder.
