OBTAIN OPTIMAL DC MOTOR SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM BY SLIDING MODE CONTROL
Abstract
This paper focuses on the design and implementation of sliding mode control for direct current (DC) motor. This controller is based on variables structure system which aim at reducing the peak overshoot, steady state error and settling time of a DC Motor. This controller has been selected due to the ability of the block diagrams that can be built in the Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) Simulink. DC motor is a machine that widely used due to excellence speed control for acceleration and deceleration. The modeling, control and simulation of this research have been implemented by using Matlab/Simulink software. The simulation results show that sliding mode controller (SMC) is superior for speed control of DC motor. Since the SMC is robust in presence of disturbances, the desired speed is perfectly tracked.
